    Services provided..

    Our friendly, practical Court of Protection solicitors can provide all the advice you need about supporting someone who needs help making decisions due to mental incapacity, including:

    • Deputyship applications – to get authorisation to handle someone’s welfare and/or financial affairs.
    • Advice to deputies about helping a person make their own decisions and making decisions in their best interests.
    • Acting as professional deputies – taking responsibility for managing a person’s affairs on your behalf or alongside you.
    • Advice about mental capacity assessments, including liaising with healthcare professionals on your behalf and reviewing and advising upon care plans. We can review client care plans in their own home or in residential nursing care.
    • Advice about applying to the Court of Protection for one off decisions – for example, where there is a disagreement about what is best for a person who lacks mental capacity.
    • Advice about Statutory Wills – where a person cannot make or update their own Will.
    • Advice about selling owned or jointly owned property – where a person cannot consent to sell their home.
    • Advice about deprivation of liberty.
    • Urgent and emergency Court of Protection applications – for example, where there is an immediate risk to the person who lacks mental capacity.
    • Taking steps to protect people from financial abuse, including making Court of Protection applications in respect of people requiring protection and liaising with the safeguarding units of local authorities and the police.
    • Assisting individuals with arranging Lasting Powers of Attorney for property & finance and health and welfare which allows an individual to grant authority to someone else so that they can make decisions about a person’s financial affairs or health and welfare if, at some point in the future,      the person become unable to make those decisions themself.
    • Advice about and preparing a Will where a person has capacity to give instructions.
